About the Academy

Who We Are

Learning Unlimited Academic (LU.ORG) is a privately held international education institution founded in Shenzhen, China, in 2008. Across eighteen years of continuous operation we have evolved from a tutoring service for a small group of families preparing for British boarding schools into a multi-jurisdictional academic group operating out of Shenzhen, London and Hong Kong.

Today our work is organised into four interlocking divisions: academic tuition (curriculum and examination preparation), examination services (a licensed examination centre in central London), school partnerships (UK–China cooperative programmes and faculty placement), and admissions guidance (one-to-one university and boarding-school counselling). Together these divisions form an end-to-end pathway: from a child's first formal English lesson to the day they receive their offer from a world-leading university.

Our Story

2008 — Foundation. The academy was founded by a small group of Cambridge and Oxford alumni in Shenzhen, with a single working principle: that one-to-one teaching, delivered by educators who themselves had taken the same examinations and applied to the same universities, was the most reliable path to genuine academic preparation. Initial students prepared for IGCSE, A-Level and Common Entrance to UK senior schools.

2012 — UK Office. A small office was opened in London to support our students once they arrived in the UK and to recruit serving and retired examiners from the major examining boards. By 2015 the London office had grown into an officially recognised examination centre for Pearson Edexcel, LAMDA and ISEB.

2015 — Government Partnership. The academy became an official UK delivery partner of the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) for the Teach in China graduate teaching programme, placing over a thousand British, North-American and Commonwealth graduates into Chinese public schools.

2018 — Online Platform. Our purpose-built online classroom platform launched, enabling fully online one-to-one tuition across global time zones. Today the platform delivers tens of thousands of taught hours per year.

2020 — Hong Kong Hub. A Hong Kong office opened to support regional partnerships and to coordinate with Hong Kong DSE families seeking parallel UK or US admissions support.

2026 — Eighteen Years. Today, in our 18th year of operation, Learning Unlimited Academic faculty include 500+ active tutors, examiners and academic mentors, and our students sit examinations and receive university offers in over 40 countries.

What We Do

1. Curriculum Tuition. Personalised one-to-one tuition across the major international curricula — IGCSE, A-Level, IB Diploma, Advanced Placement — and across the major test-prep tracks — SAT (Digital), ACT, TOEFL iBT, IELTS Academic, and bespoke English-language foundation programmes. Lessons are timetabled around the student's school calendar and reviewed termly by an academic director.

2. Examination Services. Our London centre is an officially recognised invigilation venue for Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, International A-Level, LAMDA examinations (Speaking in Public, Verse & Prose, Acting), and the Independent Schools Examinations Board (ISEB) Common Entrance and Common Pre-Tests. Students may sit their examinations on-site under formal invigilation conditions.

3. School Partnerships. We design and operate UK–China cooperative education projects — including 1+3, 2+2, 3+0, 3+1 and 4+0 articulation pathways — for high schools, sixth-form centres, vocational institutes and universities. Services include curriculum installation, teacher recruitment, learning management system deployment, and ongoing quality assurance.

4. Admissions Guidance. Long-term mentoring for students applying to selective UK, US, Canadian, Australian, Hong Kong and Singaporean universities. Our admissions practice covers subject selection from Year 9, profile-building (EPQ, LAMDA, Olympiad, research projects), personal-statement and Common-App essay supervision, admissions-test coaching (TMUA, ESAT, MAT, PAT, LNAT, TSA), and one-to-one interview preparation.

Selected Student Outcomes

Anny

Anny — University of Cambridge (Wolfson College)
Anny joined Learning Unlimited Academic at age 11. Her parents had decided early on that they wanted an international education route and were looking for a long-term partner. Over six years the academy delivered an integrated programme — English-language foundations, then LAMDA Speaking in Public for confident oral communication, then IGCSE supervision across nine subjects, then A-Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Economics. From Year 12 we paired her with a Cambridge-graduate admissions mentor who supervised her personal statement, coached her for the TMUA and ran weekly Cambridge-style interview practice. Anny received her offer from Wolfson College, Cambridge, in early 2024.

Allen

Allen — London School of Economics (PPE)
Allen came to us mid-way through the Chinese gaokao track, with strong analytical scores but a recognition that he wanted a more globally portable degree. Over a two-year sustained engagement, our team built his English-language profile via online one-to-one classes and IELTS examiner coaching, helped him secure a place on the University of London International Foundation Programme run at Beijing Foreign Studies University, supervised his foundation studies through to a final IELTS score above 7.0, and then placed him into the LSE PPE programme. Our London office continued to support his transition into life and study in the UK.

How We Differ

Faculty quality, not faculty quantity. Our internal tutor-acceptance rate is below 6%. Every tutor is interviewed, background-checked, observed teaching, and re-reviewed every term.

Examiner-led pedagogy. Many senior tutors are themselves current or retired examiners — the people who write the published mark schemes and rubrics by which your child's papers will be graded.

Long-term mentoring. Most of our admissions students have been with us for two or more years by the time they apply. We are not a last-minute service.

Transparent reporting. Lesson notes after every session and a written term review every twelve weeks. Parents always know where their child stands.

Owned examination centre. Our London exam centre means that, in many cases, our students can sit IAL, GCSE, LAMDA and ISEB papers under our own invigilation rather than competing for places at third-party centres.
